Hello, internet. It’s me, Charlotte.
I’m supposed to be doing my physics homework, but it’s super boring, so I decided to blog instead.
Since this is my first real post, I thought I should start by introducing myself. My name is Charlotte Lucas. I’m the oldest of four kids. I’m a senior at Pemberley Prep this year, which is an exclusive school for girls in Kensington, California. I’ve lived here in Kensington my entire life.
Next year, I’m planning to attend Mansfield University and study business management or accounting or something like that. My dad owns a commercial real estate business and I’d like to help him with it someday. And going to Mansfield means I can live at home and save money. Basically, I’ve got my life all planned out already. That might sound kind of pathetic, but I’m not an adventurous person. I’m a planner. I like to know what’s coming next.
My best friend, Lizzie, is pretty much the opposite. She’s always dreaming up these crazy adventures she wants us to have. Personally, I’d rather stay home and knit. Hahaha. I’m such a grandma sometimes. But seriously, I took up knitting a couple of years ago, and I’ve gotten pretty good at it. I can make scarves and hats and blankets.
Lizzie knows about my blog, but I doubt she’ll ever read it. Besides, she already knows how I feel about her adventurous side. 🙂 (Love you, Liz—if you do read this.)
Anyway, I’m excited about my senior year. I’m taking
– Physics (blah)
– English (Obviously. Hence the blog.)
– AP French
– AP Calc
– Civics & Geography (boring so far, but I think it’ll get more interesting)
– and Drama
The drama class is basically a joke. Our teacher, Mr. Yates, has no idea what he’s doing. But I’m fine with that. I only signed up for the class so I could help make costumes and get credit for it.
Plus when we put on our school plays, we get to team up with the boys at Donwell Prep. That means it’s pretty much the only class at Pemberley that includes interaction with the opposite sex. And there are definitely girls in drama who are only there to get a boyfriend. Like Julia and Mariah Norris. Insert eye roll here.
I did not join drama to get a boyfriend. But . . . I will admit that I’ve been thinking a lot about guys lately.
I’m a senior this year and I’ve never been on a date. I’ve never even been asked out. I’ve had crushes on guys, of course. But nothing’s ever come of any of them. I guess I just worry that I’m going to miss out on some kind of essential high school experience.
I may not be an adventurous person, but I would like to fall in love.
And with that embarrassing admission, I think I’ll get back to my physics homework. I hope no one from school reads this. But I doubt they will. I’m not exactly Ms. Popular.
Well, I’ll write more later.
